I am trying to setup a VPN connection to vpn.duhs.duke.edu from the Network settings on a mac running 10.7.4. After entering my credentials, under authentication settings, it's asking for a "shared secret" or certificate, and the a Group Name. Anyone know how to find out these settings?

Alternatively, does anyone know how to download a Cisco VPN client that works with 10.7.4. The versions I've found on Duke OIT don't seem to work (ie, going to vpn.duhs.duke.edu simply says "web-based installation was unsuccessful).

Thanks,

Chris emailed me that to install the vpnsetup.sh file that downloads from Duke OIT, one needs to open a terminal to where it downloaded, then run it as sudo ... ie: sudo sh vpninstaller.sh. This worked of course. Thanks, Chris.

To get the web-based Java installer to work correctly i believe you have to make 32-bit java 1st in your java preferences.

Finder -> Applications -> Utilities -> Java Preferences ... then drag 32-bit above 64-bit to make it try 32bit first.

There is a visual explanation located here:

However, it's likely easier and faster to just run the shell script.
