Postbaccalaureate research positions are available at the Brain Imaging and Analysis Center of Duke University. Individuals will perform cutting-edge research in laboratories under the mentorship of a Principal Investigator (PI). Positions are based upon the needs of our Core and Affiliate faculty labs. Typically, this is a full-time staff position with benefits that are funded by the sponsoring PI for 1 or 2 years. Candidates should be recent college graduates. With the diversity of mentors in the program, we encourage those who will subsequently apply for graduate work in Psychology, Cognitive Neuroscience, Neurobiology, Biomedical or Electrical Engineering, or Medical Physics to apply.

Experiences from Current and Former Post-bacc Researchers
“This program bridges the gap between undergrad and graduate school, especially if you are uncertain what your next steps are. I have had the opportunity to attend and present at two national conferences and have received amazing mentorship personally and professionally from Dr. Morey. Additionally, I mentor undergraduate students, which is good preparation if you are considering a career as a PI/professor.”
-Jenna Beakas; Former Post-bacc Researcher; promoted to Clinical Research Coordinator
“My support system in this position alleviated the stress I had about my future as I graduated with a Psychology degree. The relationships I have built in this position, the opportunities that were given to me, and the networking I was able to do has presented me with the privilege of feeling secure in what I want to do for the rest of my life.”
-LeeAnne Tunstall; Current Post-bacc Researcher
“This program provided me with a foundation in all the fundamental skills needed for a PhD in Clinical Psychology. Because of my extensive scientific experiences here at Duke, I was admitted to my top-choice program for a PhD in Clinical Psychology. I feel very well prepared for doctoral level coursework and research because of the hands-on experiences I've had at BIAC.”
-Lexi Baird; PhD candidate at Pennsylvania State University
“I was able to grow as a researcher by working with others and remaining self motived to accomplish projects. I also realized my passion for neuroimaging while in the Madden lab; I currently use many of the same skills that I acquired during my post-bacc, which has made the transition to graduate school much easier.”
-Hollie Mullin; PhD candidate at Pennsylvania State University
