Congrats to Olivia Dickinson from the MR Engineering Lab for receiving a Carey E. Floyd, Jr., Graduate Fellowship from the Duke Medical Physics Graduate Program!

Congratulations to Jenna Merenstein, Ph.D., for being awarded a three-year NIH postdoctoral fellowship. With this award, Jenna will be comparing standard and high-resolution measures of white matter structural connectivity, with regard to characterizing both healthy aging and Alzheimer’s disease. Her BIAC faculty mentors are Drs. David Madden and Allen Song.

Congratulations to Sharena Ballard for being nominated for the Michelle P. Winn Inclusive Excellence Award! Sponsored by the Duke School of Medicine Office of Equity, Diversity & Inclusion, this award was established to recognize those who have contributed significantly to the diversity, equity, and inclusion of their School of Medicine community.

BIAC faculty, Dr. Rajendra A. Morey, and his lab were recently highlighted in The Duke Daily for their work on climate change, displacement, and mental health.

Congrats to Devon Overson from the MR Engineering Lab for winning the 1st prize for best Ph.D. student presentation at the Duke Medical Physics Research Symposium for his poster titled "High-resolution DTI cortical column analysis for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease in high-risk pre-symptomatic subjects”!

Congrats to Devon Overson from the MR Engineering Lab for receiving a Magna Cum Laude Merit Award for his ISMRM 2024 abstract titled “Intra-hippocampal connectivity differences in cognitively normal subjects with/without genetic risk for Alzheimer’s disease"!

Congratulations to Jenna Merenstein, PhD, for winning a Postdoctoral Award for Professional Development from the Office of Postdoctoral Services! This award provides reimbursement for activities that support postdocs' professional growth and development. Jenna will be using her award to complete workshops and courses at the Society for Neuroscience International conference.

Hollie Mullin, a former clinical research intern and BIAC postbacc in the Madden Lab, was just awarded a National Science Foundation Graduate Fellowship. Hollie is currently a graduate student in the Ph.D. program in clinical neuropsychology at Penn State. In her fellowship project she will be investigating age-related differences in the reliability of resting-state functional connectivity network properties.

Welcome Evangelina Wong, Ph.D. student in Medical Physics, to the MR Engineering Lab!

Congratulations to Spencer Lynch, MS, for defending his Master’s scholarship project! Spencer contributed to the development of a method to synchronize ultrasound, MRI, and video data acquired in the same subject, so that they can be used with a machine learning algorithm to generate synthetic MR images.
